Blue Shield is seeking a dependable Class C Driver to join our logistics team. This role is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely transportation of products throughout the Chicago area, while also providing operational support within the warehouse when needed. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and comfortable working across multiple functional areas, including staging, picking, loading, and cold/freezer environments.
Safely operate Class C vehicles for daily routes and pickups.
Deliver fresh, frozen, and dry products, including internal transfers.
Adapt to changing routes, coverage needs, and last-minute assignments.
Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Provide professional, courteous service at all customer locations.
Maintain cleanliness and compliance of assigned vehicles per DOT standards.
Assist with picking, staging, and preparing orders before and after delivery.
Load and unload product safely (boxed, palletized, and mixed loads).
Work in refrigerated and freezer environments as required.
Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely (OSHA certification preferred).
Verify paperwork, product counts, and routing accuracy; report discrepancies immediately.
Support inventory movement, returns, and general warehouse organization.
Provide backup support to logistics, warehouse, and production teams.
Communicate delays, route issues, and customer feedback promptly.
Assist with loading priorities during peak periods.
Support other departments when not on active delivery routes.
Follow all DOT, OSHA, food safety, and internal safety protocols.
Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, inspection forms, and required documentation.
Participate in ongoing training (forklift, PPE, equipment, and safety practices).
Valid Class C CDL (required)
OSHA forklift certification (preferred)
Ability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks
Comfortable working in cold/refrigerated/freezer environments
Ability to lift and move product as part of delivery and warehouse duties
Strong communication skills and reliability
Ability to learn routes, systems, and procedures quickly
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Work Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Weekly Hours: 40–48 hours
Work Days: Monday–Saturday
Regular Day Off: Wednesday
Rotation: Wednesday/Saturday rotation may occur based on staffing; if unavailable, Saturdays are required.
